The First Aid at Work – Annual Refresher course is an in-depth training course for those who wish to refresh their existing skills and knowledge of first aid procedures in the workplace. Course Curriculum

In module one, we will develop our understanding of the definition of first aid and why first aid knowledge is required for all workplaces.

In module two, we will take a look at some first aid barriers to action as well as receive practical training on how to place someone in the recovery position.

In module three, we will learn how to treat someone who is unresponsive through CPR procedures and automated external defibrillators.

In module four, we will explore some key best practice procedures for treating someone who is choking.

In module five, we will learn how to treat someone who is bleeding and how to suppress the flow of blood while emergency services are contacted (if required).

In module six, we will explore how the body goes into shock and the correct safety procedures for dealing with someone who has gone into shock.

In module seven, we will deepen our understanding of spinal injuries and will learn the appropriate action to take in the case of a spinal injury in the workplace.

In module eight, we will explore broken bones and fractures, with step-by-step guidance on the correct procedures for dealing with someone who has broken a bone at work.

In module nine, we will take a look at head injuries and their effects, with expert guidance on how to deal with a person who may be concussed or suffering from head trauma.

In module ten, we will learn about the treatment and symptoms of sprains, covering first aid procedures for treating sprains.

In module eleven, we will look at the ways in which to create a systematic plan for handling accidents in the workplace, as well as best practice procedures to take after a workplace incident.

In module twelve, we will develop the practical skills and knowledge to treat burns and scalds, with step-by-step training and guidance.

In module thirteen, we will learn what happens to the body when it goes through an electric shock, and will explore the steps to take to treat someone who is suffering from electric shock.

In module fourteen, we will look at some common eye injuries that can occur in the workplace and how they can be treated.

In module fifteen, we will deepen our understanding of the causes and symptoms of epilepsy, anaphylaxis and diabetes, and will learn how to deal with someone who is suffering from an epileptic seizure or has gone into anaphylactic shock.

In module sixteen, we will learn what emergency steps must be taken in the case of someone suffering from a heart attack or stroke at work.
