This naturally leads to the recommended actions to take during an emergency, where they will be influential in conducting safety during accidents involving fire, electricity, and water. This module also emphasises the need for self-safety as a First-Aider.

In Module Four, we look at the importance of a Primary Survey during an incident. It emphasises the importance of recording and understanding all the information that can be taken from the casualty and the incident. The module also instructs the way a Recovery Position can be applied to a patient.

Module Five explains the purpose of a Secondary Survey and why it may not always be necessary. It covers the benefits of a more protracted examination and detailed investigation into an incident. We explain the procedural steps of the survey and just how much it can influence the treatment of the casualty.

Module Six comprehensively describes the most commonly used First Aid techniques. We cover the “Chain of Survival”, and the key recommendations in an emergency. The components of a First Aid kit are also explored, with descriptions of how to apply dressings, bandages, and slings. The life-extending procedures involving CPR and AEDs are highlighted as well.

Module Seven describes the majority of minor injuries that a First-Aider can expect to encounter. It looks at the wide variety of common ailments and wounds that can occur easily, and how best to deal with them. The module also highlights the injuries that can escalate in severity and what to do to ensure the safety of the casualty.

Module Nine continues the theme of treating Secondary illness in a casualty. This module covers the conditions that can cause severe breathing difficulties in an individual, how they should be appropriately treated, and when emergency services should become involved.

Module Ten continues to look at Secondary Injuries that arise from long-time medical conditions or injuries. This covers a range of issues from complications caused by excessive bleeding, to the effects of Epilepsy, and the causes of Heart Attacks. The module also covers the different types of diabetes, and what causes the body to go into shock.

    Course Curriculum

In Module 1, you will learn what is expected of you under the law as a food handler and learn about the key UK legislation governing food handling and preparation. You will also gain an understanding of how this law is enforced and what will happen if anyone in your business breaks these laws.

Module 2 covers the most prevalent and tenacious hazard in food safety, which is food poisoning and its primary cause: microbiological contamination. We will examine the different types of food poisoning caused by bacteria, viruses or moulds entering food and spreading illnesses and diseases, or introducing toxins. You will also learn how to prevent microbes from making food harmful and what the law has to say about your responsibilities and obligations.

In module 3, we will learn about the three other primary forms of hazard that can contaminate food and harm people, and how they need to be considered in terms of how the law treats each of these risks.

In Module 4, you will delve deeper into the subject of food-borne disease, establishing precisely what it is, the different types and how they are caused, and how we can control them in a food-handling environment. You will learn about how food poisoning and food-borne disease are defined under the law and discover the many different forms and their confusingly similar symptoms

In Module 5, you will learn how and why food spoilage is the primary cause of waste in both food businesses and broader society, as well as being the most significant source of food poisoning. You will learn the best ways to preserve food and how to spot and prevent spoilage, before drilling down into the main methods of preserving foods, some of which have been with us since time immemorial.

In Module 6, you will come to understand how it is the food handlers that are potentially the most significant and direct sources of illness. You will learn the essentials of personal hygiene ‘best practice’ while ensuring that you understand all the regulations you need to follow.

In Module 7, you will learn how it is essential to make sure that all food businesses take every precaution in preventing food-borne illness being passed on via their products.

In Module 8, you will learn how your food business premises needs to be well designed and correctly used, and how a strict and efficient cleaning regime is essential to this. You will see that excellent hygiene standards are enforceable under the law, and will be expected by the customers who use your business. You will learn how strict cleaning protocols and schedules help you to sustain a completely hygienic and safe food production area. You will also be shown the consequences of not following such guidelines and procedures.

In the final module, you will familiarize with all the new practices that have recently emerged to adapt to the new normal. You will learn in detail about the standard hygiene and safety practices needed to be followed to minimize the risk of contamination of COVID-19.

Module One introduces the basic principles of First Aid and the important responsibilities that a First-Aider must own. It covers the do’s and don’ts of first aid and how to apply the basic first first aid techniques in case of injuries and ailments.

In Module Two, we look at the way in which First Aid personnel should take charge during incidents and guide events. This naturally leads to the recommended actions to take during an emergency, where they will be influential in conducting safety during accidents involving fire, electricity, and water. This module also emphasises the need for self-safety as a First-Aider.

In Module Three, we look at the importance of a Primary Survey during an incident. It emphasises the importance of recording and understanding all the information that can be taken from the casualty and the incident. The module also instructs the way a Recovery Position can be applied to a patient.

Module Four explains the purpose of a Secondary Survey and why it may not always be necessary. It covers the benefits of a more protracted examination and detailed investigation into an incident. We explain the procedural steps of the survey and just how much it can influence the treatment of the casualty.

In Module Five, we run through the symptoms, causes and treatments of the most common ailments that can affect a child. This includes all-too-frequent occurrences like stings and burns, along with life-affecting conditions such as Diabetes and Anaphylaxis. The module also looks at rarer incidents such as Frostbite and Heatstroke, and exactly what you should do to relieve the child’s condition.

Module Six examines the more complex medical conditions that can seriously affect the well-being of a child. You’ll learn the cause and effect of serious illnesses such as Sickle-Cell Anaemia and Meningitis, as well as understanding exactly what to do if a child suffers from symptoms. We also explain the existence of Febrile Convulsions, along with more recognisable conditions such as Asthma and food poisoning.

In Module Seven, we look at the way CPR can be applied to two sets of distinctive age groups, that of adults and children . The module shows how to check for responsiveness and breathing difficulties in patients, and exactly what methods should be applied in each situation. We also examine the uses of an AED and what role it can play in the resuscitation of a child.

In Module Eight, we will learn what constitutes a medical emergency, with guidance on what to do if a person is suffering from a heart attack, stroke, asthma attack and other life-threatening emergencies.

In this final module, we will learn about best practice procedures you need to keep in mind when providing first aid, such as removing clothing and headgear safely. It also includes essential information on permission and consent.

Moreover, we will also go through specific details such as which law applies to which form of data and how this data should be handled as a result.

The individuals themselves will be the focal point of Module 4, and here we will go over their rights when organisations collect their data. We will also look at how organisations themselves must ensure that all data protection laws comply appropriately, and the procedures that they must undertake.

In module five, we will explore the key responsibilities organisation have when complying with the GDPR. We will outline the full course of action that is legally required of a company to protect an individual’s data, and how penalties of appropriate margins can be enforced on organisations for failure to comply with the GDPR.

It also looks at the requirements of a good First Aid kit and the importance of preventing cross-infection. It also provides a pointer towards initial actions to take when an emergency is encountered.

In Module Two, we explain the legal duties of an employer (and employee) has in regards to providing First Aid equipment and facilities. It also covers the UK legislation that is currently in place, to ensure that the appropriate workers are trained in First Aid skills, along with further health and safety directives. The importance of accident reporting is examined as well.

In Module Three, we look at the way in which First Aid personnel should take charge during incidents and guide events.

Module Eight starts to cover the Secondary Illnesses that a First-Aider can come across. This module specifically explains the actions required when an adult, child, or baby becomes unconscious. It also goes into detail on how to check for breathing problems and apply resuscitation techniques.

Module Eleven comprehensibly covers the different types of fractures and dislocations. It looks at the different ways bones can break or splinter, along with the appropriate treatment a First-Aider can perform. We also cover the risks behind head injuries and how bone displacement should be handled.

Module Twelve covers and summarises the different types of emergency services that are available in the UK. This final module will affirm the responsibilities of a First-Aider and instructs the learner on how and when to call the appropriate services.
